Enjoy This Quick and Easy Pasta Salad


A pasta salad can be prepared in so many different ways. What I've done is to put together two of the most delicious and easy ways to prepare your pasta. Whether you want it for breakfast, lunch, or a light dinner. Its your call.

Pasta is one of the most popular foods in the world today and is the quickest and easiest carbohydrate to prepare. It is classified as a complex carbohydrate. These type of carbs are the main source of energy that our body needs to function well. When combined with vegetables, or even combined with a fruit salad, you get a good balance of nutrients your body needs. A pasta vegetable salad or a pasta fruit salad is easy and nutritious. These two easy recipes are outlined below.



Pasta Vegetable Salad

Makes 6-8 Servings

Ingredients

½ lb pasta (shell, bow tie or your favourite type)
½ head cauliflower cut in small pieces
1 bunch large broccoli cut in small pieces
½ cup carrot thinly sliced in rounds
salt and pepper to taste
½ cup Parmesan cheese sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Cook pasta until tender or to your suit, drain and let cool.

Step 2: In the meantime pasta is been cooked, bring another pot of water to boil for carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. Cook until tender then drain and let cool.

Step 3: In a bowl add pasta and vegetables. Then add Parmesan cheese sauce to the ingredients and mix gently. Enjoy this pasta salad with your favourite beverage.

Parmesean Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

1 tbsp butter
1 ½ tbsp flour
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 cup low fat milk
1 pinch paprika
salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

Step 1: Melt butter in saucepan over low to medium heat. Add flour when butter is melted whisking constantly for about two minutes or until cooked.

Step 2: Add milk whisking constantly until thickened. Add cheese, salt, pepper and paprika. Continue mixing until smooth. When finished pour over your dish whilst hot.

Pasta can also be enjoyed by making a pasta fruit salad. Prepare and enjoy this healthy pasta salad delight.

Pasta Fruit Salad

Ingredients

Makes 6-8 Servings

Ingredients

½ lb pasta (shell, bow tie or your favourite type)
1 cup strawberries, sliced in halves
1 cup seedless grapes
½ cup honeydew cubed
½ cup cantaloupe cubed
1 medium banana, sliced
2 tbsp honey
¼ cup sour cream
8 ounce low fat lemon or pineapple flavoured yogurt (your favourite flavour can also be used)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook pasta until tender or to your suit, drain and let cool.

Step 2: Add pasta to bowl then add fruits, sour cream and yogurt. Mix gently and serve.
